Born in South Africa in 1968. I grew up with a passion for nature and hunting. My parents did not own land and I was raised in a town called Witbank. School holidays were spend in the outback and when I was 16 years old I received my first firearm license. I shot practical pistol / combat during my school years for the local town club. At the combat club I was exposed to firearm owners who had a large variety of firearms. Opportunities to shoot was there all the time, but my passion for the bush drove me further all the time.
During my compulsory national service I volunteered for active border duty and serviced in Namibia and Angola. Since then all my time was spent in the bush, running after wildlife.
Back then ammunition was scarce and very expensive, so any avid hunter and combat shooter had to reload. I bought the best RCBS and use it to this day. Every weapon I bought, I immediately also bought the calibers reloading dies in order to reload the ammunition. Ballistics intrigued me from day one and reloading articles soon consumed all my free time and campfire stories. New friends were made made and wonderful rich experiences filled my quest to live and dream rifles and wild animals.

With the development of the internet came a whole new set of opportunities. Communication and browsing your favorite suppliers catalogues are within reach 24/7. Soon I registered my first domains and the rest is history.
I love to write and relive my experiences, it also forces many hours of research. Professor Koos Badenhorst said to me: "... only when information is shared / made available does it become knowledge...". It was the day when I asked his permission to tell the .458 Express story.
Hunting is my passion and the performance of rifles, calibers, and the combination of ballistics never stops to amaze me. You are invited to read further at www.capebuffalo.co.za
