The following table shows a cost comparison done by us selecting brass cases as the criteria from major suppliers in South Africa. It clearly shows that the .458 Express is superior in all forms, ballistics and price category, being a quarter the price of a .450 Rigby brass case.

It all depends on what brand you are trying to buy at the time, but these prices will be relevant for the major manufacturers in the world selling at this time in South Africa!

It makes perfect sense to shoot more for less!

Less money for brass cases, Less recoil at the bench

Bullet costs will be the same in any given caliber. As for the volume of powder the differences are 2-5 grains and will also be irrelevant. The same argument goes for primers! Do you still think it is expensive to shoot a large caliber?
